The protection of our environment has been important to us long before it became a trend. For us this is part of it:
- Usage of energy-efficient light bulbs
- Avoidance of small item wrapping
- Separation of all waste material
- Collection of rainwater for watering our courtyard
In October 2003, right when we installed our central-heating-boiler, we also put up a block-heat-and-power-plant (BHKW). This DACHS heat-power-facility works according to the principle of cogeneration of heat and power. A combustion engine powers an electrical energy generator. 90 % of the produced energy is directly fed into the building’s heating system and is used for heating the house and generating warm water. The electrical power is 5.5 kW, the thermal output is around 12.5 kW. According to the manufacturer Senertec the CO2 emission is cut down by over 3.13 kg per hour of operation. That is a saving of over 22 tons per year.
So our guests only hear the birds twittering, we have wrapped our power-plant into an acoustic and heat protection casing. The noise level is therefore kept down at 1 meter distance to around 56 dB(A) that is according to the Din 45635.
