Hotel Kastanienhof is an owner-managed private hotel in Kastanienallee in Berlin Mitte. The owner family Hauptmann has been operating in Kastanienallee since 1922. The building was a typical Berlin residential house from the 19th century and was converted into a hotel in the 1990s. In part, we were able to preserve the high stucco ceilings and floor plans while still equipping the house with modern standards. Since 2016, our hotel is now a 3 star hotel superior with 44 rooms and suites and the German restaurant Ausspanne.
We have collected the history of the house and the surrounding area with great attention to detail and made it accessible to our guests everywhere in the hotel.

Since we as a family have been rooted in the area since 1922, we would like to preserve this piece of Berlin in our Hotel Kastanienhof in Kastanienallee in Berlin. Perhaps this is the reason why Berlin vacationers and business travelers have been visiting us for years.
Thus, we have designed many of our rooms as themed rooms with photos, documents, advertising and utilitarian objects of the area. The hallways and breakfast rooms are also decorated accordingly.
No matter from which direction you come - the 368 m high TV tower always shows you the way to us, because our hotel is only two kilometers away from Alexanderplatz.
Our hotel is located directly on the Kastanienallee, the "Monmatre" of Berlin. Not necessarily noble, but full of charm and Berlin flair are here the small boutiques, cafes and restaurants waiting for your discovery. On foot you can then stroll to the famous Kollwitzplatz.
Here you will experience two hip Berlin districts: Prenzlauer Berg and Mitte.
By public transport you can reach Alexanderplatz, the Brandenburg Gate, the street Unter den Linden, the Museum Island, the government quarter and many other sights in a few minutes.
For five generations, the family of the current owners in the neighborhood has been there in various professions for Berliners, newcomers and travelers passing through. Reliable through the ages - that's how we want to be there for our guests. Four things are particularly important to us:
Our house is run as a family business by father, son and grandson - Otto, Uwe and Max Hauptmann. The 12 employees are Berliners with heart and soul and most of them have been working at the Kastanienhof for many years. Therefore, in addition to the typical Berlin snout, they also have a lot of heart and local knowledge.
